Turkish carriers will increase cargo flow to Turkmenistan via Iran

Turkish Consul General in Mashhad, Fatih Topchu, following negotiations with Iranian officials, managed to resolve the issue of a long wait for Turkish carriers at the Lutfabad customs, near the border with Turkmenistan, Daily Sabah reports.

In the near future, an increase in cargo traffic through this customs point is expected, due to which the delivery of goods to Turkmenistan and other countries of Central Asia will significantly accelerate and increase.

This was made possible by taking the following steps:

  • increase in working hours to speed up clearance at the border in agreement with Turkmenistan;
  • increasing the number of vehicles that are allowed to cross the border during the day;
  • fuel cards will be issued to non-Iranian citizens to facilitate the purchase of fuel;
  • the change of trailers will be abolished, which will significantly reduce the time for crossing the border.

In addition, the Iranian side noted that the clearance of perishable goods will also be optimized. Previously, restrictions on crossing the border were introduced by Iran in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
