An international tourism conference ended in Ashgabat

In Ashgabat on March 27, in the afternoon, the closing ceremony of the international conference “Main directions and potential for tourism development in Turkmenistan” was held at the Yyldyz hotel. The MIC of Turkmenistan reports this.

The event was attended by representatives of the tourism industry from Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Korea, as well as employees of international organizations, ministries and departments.

According to the forum participants, Turkmenistan has significant tourism potential and is able to satisfy the growing global demand for historical tours to places with natural exoticism and unique ancient monuments. Of particular interest to foreign tourists are excursions to the historical and cultural reserve “Ancient Merv”, to the city of Kunya-Urgench. The country is developing ecological, medical and health-improving, folklore-ethnographic, historical-architectural, cultural and educational types of tourism, and the number of high-class hotels, sanatoriums, and holiday homes is increasing.

Further development of tourism infrastructure in Turkmenistan will allow it to compete with the world's leading resorts. The country is working to introduce educational programs and initiatives aimed at adapting to the changing needs of the tourism sector.

The conference participants spoke about the importance of continuing work to popularize the tourism potential of Turkmenistan abroad. They also discussed the implementation of the “One Tour – Whole Region” program, covering the entire range of tourism products.

As part of the forum, meetings were held between representatives of ministries, departments and travel companies; foreign delegates also held a scientific and practical conference with students and teachers of leading universities in Turkmenistan.
