Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia discussed ways to develop bilateral relations

Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Walid bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji held a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom Orazmuhammet Charyev at the ministry's office in Riyadh.

As reported on the website of the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry, during the reception the parties discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and possible ways for their further development. The diplomats also discussed international issues of mutual interest.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of intensifying Turkmen-Saudi ties in various fields. Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia for Investor Relations, Badr Al-Badr, visited Ashgabat on a working visit. The main topic of his visit was the work of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

Let us recall that in February of this year, the national air carrier Turkmenistan launched a direct flight from Ashgabat to the Saudi city of Jeddah, which should contribute to the growth of passenger traffic and tourism between the two countries.

Additionally, in January, the Office of the Mufti of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia signed an Agreement on the performance of Hajj by Turkmen pilgrims in 2024, strengthening close religious and cultural ties.

It is obvious that Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia strive to increase multidisciplinary cooperation in all areas in the spirit of mutual understanding and friendship.
