Turkmenistan strives to become a key transcontinental transport hub

According to Central Asia observer Vadim Shagiahmedov, Turkmenistan is confidently moving towards becoming a transcontinental transport bridge connecting the European, Asia-Pacific and South Asian economic systems, CentralAsia.news reports.

The expert notes that the country is actively working to develop transport infrastructure in the “East-West” and “North-South” directions. New bridges are being built, modern high-speed highways and railways are being laid, and air and sea routes are being developed. Turkmenistan consistently advocates the expansion of mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation in the transport sector.

Shagiahmedov emphasizes that Turkmenistan has a unique geographical position, which permits the country to naturally integrate into international transport corridors. Huge resource potential and developed logistics infrastructure define Turkmenistan as one of the largest participants in world trade and commodity exchange.

According to the observer, Turkmenistan regularly takes initiatives to create transcontinental transport corridors at the global level. This opens up good prospects for transforming the transport segment into one of the engines of global economic development.
