Standards for the construction of cottage-type residential buildings have been approved in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is introducing new mandatory norms and rules for the construction of individual cottage-type residential buildings. The corresponding order was issued by the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan and published on the legal information portal of the Ministry of Justice.

The document establishes a set of regulatory safety requirements for the design and construction of cottages, regardless of the materials used. The document applies to 1-3-story buildings, including reconstruction with replacement of walls.

The rules stipulate the minimum areas of residential premises, requirements for layout, ceiling heights, sizes of doorways, stairs and other standards. It becomes mandatory to provide an accessible environment for people with disabilities when designing. Requirements for natural lighting and thermal insulation have been determined.

The new document is harmonized with other building codes, including urban planning rules, fire safety rules and standards for people with limited mobility. The order is aimed at increasing the comfort and safety of individual housing in Turkmenistan.
