Train with cars leaves China for Central Asia

A freight train carrying 261 Chinese-owned vehicles left Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, on Tuesday for five Central Asian countries, the Shijiazhuang International Land Port said.

According to the port, this is the first double-decker train for the transport of vehicles, which departs from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Each of the 29 cars of the train can carry 9 to 10 cars, which can drive directly into the train, which greatly improves the efficiency of loading and unloading.

The train will arrive at Khorgos, a border port in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Then the cars will be delivered by trucks to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The vehicles were manufactured by Great Wall Motors based in Baoding, Hebei Province.
